We’ve revamped our early years outdoor learning environment with exciting outdoor resources that will encourage our children to explore, investigate, experiment and think imaginatively.
With a focus on messy play, we installed the following:
Water Wall – a new hub for investigative learning which can be used to introduce children to scientific topics such as water flow, gravity and kinetic energy.
Water Table – this can be used to introduce children to both scientific and mathematical concepts.
Dig Pit – when children dig, they will develop good eye hand coordination, large muscle skills and improve their fine muscle control when they mould and manipulate the soil.
Rope and Pulley Materials Mover – children will use this t transfer materials and create their own quarry/production line.
To encourage outdoor mark-making, we installed both an outdoor chalkboard and whiteboard. Additionally, we installed a wonderful Easel Table, where children can sit and share their artistic creations with each other.
For outdoor seating, we added a Quad Seat Planter and a Bespoke Corner Planter. Children can now grow their own flowers for both benches, connecting them with the natural world and helping them understand the plant life cycle.
We worked with Pentagon Play on this project who are one of the leading providers of school playground equipment in the UK. If you’re looking to develop your outdoor area, we highly recommend them.
